I think this place got new owners like 6 months ago. It’s been very good since then. The food was terrible under previous ownership but great now so everyone who had a bad experience under previous ownership should try this place again.
Wonderful customer service, delicious food, beautifully clean restaurant, reasonable prices, enormous portions, AND open late? This is definitely a whole new China Flavor. Highly recommend. Ignore the outdated reviews for the previous owners and go here immediately!
I’ve been coming to China Flavor for the last 9 years. Since the new ownership, everything has only been improved. It’s hard to take over a place that has been on the decline with service and food when the passion is lost, but you can clearly tell that the new owners are genuine and love their craft. My favorite dish is the deep fried spicy chicken house combo (extra spicy) with fried dumplings and a Coke. Anything on the menu is great, so give it a try :)
This once poorly maintained restaurant has greatly improved after the new owner took over the business. The restaurant is spacious and clean, and the food is of high quality. The staff are friendly, and the restaurant is right next to a bunch of bars. It's a perfect place to grab a bite when you're hungry at night, as it stays open until 2 a.m.
Do not be dithered by the appearance or old reviews. China Flavor is under new local family ownership, the same family who owned the beloved Golden Wok restaurant (Now Trader Joe’s). This is some of the best Chinese Dim Sum small plates in the Lansing area at an amazing price. The Hong Kong tea made with whole tea leaves is addictive. Even the tripe was delicious and I don’t even like tripe. This is my new favorite spot for authentic Chinese food.
New owners are very friendly and accommodating to customers' tastes. The food is authentic Cantonese family style cooking. The dim sum is amazing! We will be back soon!
NEW OWNERSHIP at New China Flavor on Michigan Avenue on Lansing's Eastside! When I saw a new dim sum menu up on the window, I was so excited I went in and talked to Annie and soon learned that the owners used to run Golden Wok in East Lansing, the one restaurant I've really missed since I returned to the area three years ago. Annie is so welcoming, and the food is EVERYTHING I'd hoped it would be. Eating here felt like returning to a place I used to love. Great place to eat on Lansing's Eastside! *** UPDATE: My family has now eaten there a few times and I still hold the same opinion as that first night. What's more, if you want something made just a little differently than on the menu, they will accommodate!
Our new favorite for Asian cuisine for sure!!! We have tried MANY Chinese restaurants in the Lansing area and this one by far tops them all! When you first walk in it may not look like anything special, however we were pleasantly welcomed with a warm smile from a very friendly woman. She carefully explained the combos to us and the different options you could get. They had more options for sides than most similar restaurants AND included a beverage in the very reasonable price. We asked if it was possible to get our food extra spicy and they happily honored our request, and wanted to make sure they got it just right. The food arrived very quickly and everything tasted extremely fresh and had a great flavor. They didn't skimp on the veggies in mine like some other restaurants do. They went out of their way to make sure we had everything wanted wanted and make sure we were happy with our food. Even the quality of the take out cup surprised me! We will DEFINITELY be returning and ABSOLUTELY recommend everyone try this restaurant!
